America Stands Tall

This was perhaps the most surprising thing I witnessed. Here is a volunteer
who came to New York City to help in the rescue effort. He actually had
a flashlight and some other things strapped to his belt and he was
wearing a backpack of supplies.

We all think of the rescue workers are heroes. We thank them for everything
they did and tried. But surly those of us not directly involved at ground zero
are unable to comprehend how the rescuers feel.

Below we see one of our heroes on his knees crying as he writes:
"We came, we saw, we tried
I SWEAR
We could not save you!
I'm sorry, I'm so damn sorry."
